How to Buy SpaceX Stock

SpaceX is listed on NASDAQ under the ticker SPCX. One share is one share of Class A common stock: a claim on the company's assets and earnings, one vote at a shareholder meeting, and no dividend. Any broker that carries NASDAQ-listed shares can buy it for you, and the order works the same way as an order for any other listed stock.

What SPCX is trading at

You pay whatever the market is quoting when your order fills. The chart below comes from TradingView and updates live, unlike the daily snapshot figures elsewhere on this site.

Four steps

  1. 1

    Open a brokerage account

Any broker that lists NASDAQ stocks can buy SPCX. eToro, below, is our partner; most major brokers carry it too. If you already hold US stocks somewhere, you can skip this step.

  2. 2

    Fund your account

Deposit by bank transfer, card, or whatever else your broker supports. Methods, fees and settlement times vary by broker and by country, and a currency conversion may apply if your account is not held in dollars.

  3. 3

    Search for SPCX

Look up the ticker SPCX in your broker's search to open the order screen. Check that the exchange shown is NASDAQ, since some brokers also list depositary lines or contracts for difference under similar names.

  4. 4

    Place your order

Choose a market or limit order and the number of shares, or a dollar amount if your broker supports fractional shares, then confirm. A limit order sets the most you will pay; a market order fills at whatever the current price is.

Before you place the order

Two things worth knowing

You are buying Class A, and Class A has one vote

SPCX is SpaceX's Class A common stock. Class B, held by insiders, carries ten votes per share and controls the large majority of the vote. Class A gives you the full economic interest in the company and almost none of the control. Our investors page has the split in detail.

SpaceX has never paid a dividend

No dividend has been declared on SpaceX common stock since the company was founded. The company is loss-making and spending heavily on capital projects. Any return on SPCX has to come from the share price.
